Foundation Center South, a Service of Candid, in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation Atlanta Civic Site, is pleased to officially launch the application process for the 2019 Boys and Men of Color (BMOC) Executive Director Collaboration Circle (EDCC).

African Americans and Latinos compose more than half of Atlanta’s population. Education, employment, and other inequities have left many of these residents, especially our city’s boys and men of color, disconnected from the opportunities they need to thrive. The BMOC EDCC is changing this reality in Metro Atlanta by helping local leaders build their organizational and leadership capacities and their partnerships and networks, as well as share best practices.

“We hear time and time again that leaders need resources, connections to best practices, a professional learning community, and a platform to elevate and expand what’s working, and the Boys and Men of Color Executive Director Collaboration Circle seeks to bridge this gap,” said Maria S. Azuri, Director of Foundation Center South.

Foundation Center South is looking for a diverse pool of applicants from a variety of nonprofits and social institutions for the 2019 BMOC EDCC. Applicants should have a deep commitment to the complex needs of boys and men of color, a desire to implement effective programming, and an understanding of the crucial need for creative collaboration. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate a proven history of success serving boys and men of color in the six county region, which includes Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Rockdale counties.

“To address the significant challenges and disparities boys and men of color in Metro Atlanta face, we as philanthropists must support the organizations that work with them day to day in the community,” says Kweku Forstall, Director of the Annie E. Casey Foundation Atlanta Civic Site. “The collaboration circle is filling that need and helping to build the capacity of nonprofits that are already doing great work.”

This year’s leaders will explore self-care, power dynamics, and internal assessments across various indicators of organizational strength. Also as vitally important, leaders will explore their leadership style, build their leadership skills, and network in a safe space – connecting, engaging, sharing, and learning along with peers also involved in this crucial area of work.

The eight-month program will start on Friday, May 31. Applications must be received by Friday, May 3 at 12:00 pm. Finalists will be announced on Friday, May 10 via email. Mandatory program orientation is on Friday, May 31st from 10:00 am-1:00 pm. Apply online at
