According to Giving USA’s 2018 data, private contributions to the nonprofit sector that derived from corporations accounted for a total of $21 billion dollars, approximately 5% of all private contributions to the sector. The CEO Force for Good (CECP) reported last year that 56% of corporations saw an increase in their giving from 2015 to 2017, and that companies with open matching gift programs keep increasing. In 2017, 92% of companies offered at least one matching gift program, and the value of their giving programs continued to expand, according to CECP reports.

Corporations are playing an increasingly active role in philanthropy. They are not only leveraging their financial resources, but are also leveraging employee volunteerism, and employee contributions. It is becoming imperative for nonprofit leaders and staff to understand the various facets of corporate giving, and how to engage corporations.

At Candid, we understand the importance of helping you stay relevant in your fundraising and donor engagement efforts. For that reason, we have been ramping up our live online trainings and on-demand, self-paced courses focused on corporate giving. This month, we are kicking off our corporate giving offerings with tomorrow’s live online training that will show you how to shift your approach to corporate outreach so that you can stand out. You will walk away with a roadmap that will help you prioritize outreach and find ways to get to decision-makers faster. On February 21, we are offering another live online training on how to effectively engage corporate employees as volunteers for your nonprofit. This training will help you evaluate the readiness of your organization to effectively utilize skills-based volunteers and identify and scope compelling projects that meet a high-priority functional need for your organization. Remember that even if you can’t make the live online training, you will always get the recording, as long as you register!

If you are still hungry for more knowledge on corporate giving, we invite you to explore our on-demand courses on GrantSpace. Over the last few months, we have added great new content on corporate engagement, including Corporate Sponsorship for Nonprofits: How to Put a Price Tag on What You To and How to Use Data to Raise More Money From Corporations. For those of you that are just getting started, please join us on March 26 for a free Introduction to Corporate Giving live online training.

The train of corporate philanthropy has left the station. Are you well-equipped to engage corporations effectively in your mission? How else can we help you? Please reach out, we always want to learn from you!
